SAGE is part of a diverse coalition of California food system and agriculture organizations that is co-sponsoring the the ambitious CA Food & Farm Resilience Bond Act. Introduced by Assemblymember Robert Rivas (D- Hollister) on March 16, the bill is officially called the Equitable Economic Recovery, Healthy Food Access, Climate Resilient Farms and Worker Protection Bond Act (AB 125). AB 125 will place a bond on the 2022 ballot. The bond will invest $3.122 billion over five years to accelerate California’s economic recovery from the COVID- 19 pandemic while combating climate change, improving food security, and protecting our essential farmworkers. This bond measure makes key investments in disadvantaged communities, socially disadvantaged farmers and ranchers, Tribes, small- and medium-sized farms and small businesses. The bond includes: 1) Investments in Farmworkers; 2) Investments to Combat Hunger; 3) Investments in Agricultural Solutions to the Climate Crisis; and 4) Investments in our Regional Food Economies.
